Editors Corner:

ABDX membership is 274 members strong.

ABDX presents to the august body here assembled, the December CME.

This CME is for all the members to log any station on AM BCB - MW - between 1310 kHz and 1600 kHz. Send your logs in even if you don't think its DX. Its a good way for others to have some good information. The December CME also covers HF (Shortwave) on two meter bands one for day and one for night. DX logs from 15 meters, roughly 15 Mhz to 15,9 MHz for day coverage and 49 meters,  5.8 MHz to 6.3 MHz for night coverage. Please log HF logs in UTC and MW in local time or if you do feel the need to log everything in UTC, put that in the text of your logs. Hope to get logs also from our off the North and South American continent members as well.

Also we will be accepting logs for any HD catch whether it be AM or FM.

The CME will run from 0000 on December 15 0001 until 2359 Christmas Day,  Dec 25.

Perseus and Double Kaz Antenna

Using my current south antenna (just one of these rather than the array of two) I recorded from 800 to 1600 KHz for about 30 minutes starting just after 5 pm CST on Dec 14. CX seem to have been quite good towards my SE then.

http://realmonitor.com/tworidges/2xdoubleKAZ.pdf  This is the version of the DHDL antenna that I've modelled and continue to test that seems most broadbanded for total BCB band coverage. Beamwidths are about 100 deg, which compares to about 138 degrees for a single flag-type antenna at 15 degrees above the horizon. Back null width is also greater than when using just a flag and I get little off the back end unless it is normally very strong.

On 1230, I was surprised to see WABN mostly dominant and often listenable for a while with oldies and ID's as WABN 1230 AM 103.3 FM at 1708 and 1714 CST. During the same period I found WHHV sometimes atop 1400 but not as good and with several ID's and address and phone number given.

** U S A. 1460, Dec 16 at 1213 UT, S Asian songs, segués including one at 1222, no announcements. Hard to get a fix, seems sort of E-W, but the only ETHnic format in NRC AM Log anywhere around here is KBRZ, Houston TX, and their ``International Language Radio`` schedule fits:

http://www.kbrzradio.com/5.html

with `Sangeet Radio` M-F 6 am to midnight, more variety on weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

HF

** ANTARCTICA. 15476, Dec 15 at 1339 and 1442, no trace of a carrier from LRA36 during its last known hours of 13-15 Thursdays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BELARUS [non]. 6155, Dec 15 at 0426 strong signal in funny Russian repeatedly mentioning Belarus, and very good modulation too. So is it R. Belarus, as used at 17-23 for external service? No! It`s R. Liberty, via Wertachtal, GERMANY at 04-05 in Belorussian (also 03-04 via Lampertheim), a neat setup to `inherit` Minsk`s listeners the next morning: 0431 ID in passing as R. Svoboda. Strangely enough, Belarus` own 6155 schedule is missing from EiBi, but not from Aoki or HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHAD. 6165, Dec 15 at 0428, RN Bonaire has just gone off, so now we hear hilife music, fast SAH from some CCI, Zambia? Or BBC Cyprus in Persian. 0430 French, more music, from RNT, which supposedly just signed on at 0427, but lately has been running 24 hours. Currently there is a sesquihour window until Bonaire is back on 6165 at 0600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 6270, Dec 15 at 0425, huge S9+25 signal from R. Cairo, but just barely modulated with Qur`an. It`s listenable by turning the volume all the way up, but more modulation, less signal would be more efficient, and never forget to turn the volume down before tuning away from the frequency. Gone after 0430. HFCC shows this is 200 kW, 325 degrees from Abis, including English to E NAm at 2300-2430, and furthermore exactly same parameters at 1800-2245 to Europe in Italian, German, French, English 2115-2245 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ETHIOPIA. 6090, Dec 15 at 0344, like 21 hours earlier, Anguilla is missing (stuck on non-propagating day frequency 11775? Or just off the air), so instead we can hear Horn of Africa music; and no het either like after 0600 from off-frequency Nigeria and/or Brasil. 0352 starts talking in presumed Amharic, but signal is weakening vs QRM; 0400 reverbed announcement, ululations. Presumed Amhara State Radio, as in EiBi at 0255-0600, which strangely enough is missing from Aoki, and naturally missing from HFCC. WRTH 2011 says 100 kW, site is Geja, and this Amhara State Regional Radio is in Bahir Dar (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [and non]. 6135, Thursday Dec 15 at 1331, Shiokaze is opening in Japanese; besides nearby bonker in the background, some Juche noise jamming too, not audible here until today, so it`s about time for Sea Breeze to jump frequency again, maybe back to 5910 or 5985; 6015 and 6140 other alternatives registered by JIC MIC in HFCC from Yamata, JAPAN (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ANGUILLA [and non]. 6090 missing for at least the third night, Dec 16 at 0615, just weak signals from something, maybe Nigeria; and also have to beware of RHC leapfrog mix of 6010 over 6050 in English. Everyone should be cleaning up with other 6090 stations, such as Ethiopia which I heard the night before. DGS/PMS/TUN remains active on day frequency 11775, and still unsure whether, unpropagable, it is just staying on all night instead of 6090 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 6060, Dec 16 at 1138, Tagalog talk mentioning Pilipinas, mixing in English terms such as cease-fire, chief of staff armed forces, deliberate offensive, but numbers pronounced in Spanish, fair signal and hoped for something more interesting than China Radio International as then pronounced in English. HFCC shows 500 kW, 165 degrees from Beijing site at 1130-1200. Fortunately, the Cuban relay of Venezuela which used to occupy this frequency-hour is long gone (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ECUADOR. 6050, Dec 16 at 1129, you have to get up early to hear HCJB direct any more, on its only frequency, blocked in the evenings by the recalcitrant Arnie Coro`s RHC. HCJB IDs, timechex for 6:30/5:30, auto timesignal, `Al Día` morning news show, no het from Malaysia or anything (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 15735, Friday Dec 16 at 1333, Qur`an really heartfelt by a guy putting more emotion into it than usual, reverb added; 1343 brief YL announcement, more Qur`an; 1352 change to music and soft Arabic discussion; good signal at first, weakening a lot after 1400. HFCC shows it`s IRIB, 500 kW, 289 degrees from Zahedan in Arabic at 0530-1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 6550, Dec 16 at 0612, YL in presumed Korean, poor signal but stronger than jammed services on 6600 and 6518. At 0613 also on // 6435 a bit stronger but with ute QRM unlike 6550.

Next check at 1133 just in time to hear female choral music and now 6435 is S9+20, considerably stronger than 6550, which goes off first, open carrier past 1134 on 6435. So far have not heard any jamming on these two. It seems we heard this new service on its very first day Dec 8, followed up by the Japanese DXers with this schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Korean MND Radio [Ministry of National Defense, South to North]

1000-1040 6135 via Chuncheon  Male version

de Hiroshi (S. Hasegawa, Dec 10, dxldyg via WORLD OF RADIO 1595, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 15120, Dec 16 at 0625, VON is the SSOB, virtually the OSOB, peaking S9+15 with hum, English, discussing World Trade Organization. Usually doesn`t make it any more (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 15160, Dec 17 at 1458 past 1500, open carrier; at 1501 some modulation starts but it`s very distorted, on peaks only. Listed as R. Cairo in Ozbaki = Uzbek at 1500-1600, 250 kW, 61 degrees from Abis to CIRAF 30 = W Asia (often referred to as Central Asia, even tho it`s much closer to the Urals than to the middle of the continent around Mongolia) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 6135, Dec 17 at 1348, Shiokaze via JSR Tokyo/Yamata, JAPAN hasn`t jumped frequency yet, distinctive news sounder, tho poor signal, seems Korean language today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 6090v, Dec 17 at 2308, after NIGERIA [q.v.] has closed in the absence of ANGUILLA [q.v.], very poor signal left sounds Brazilian, and then I am barely able to // it to equally vp signal on 9645v, i.e. R. Bandeirantes. Other // 11925v not propagating or not on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CYPRUS. 6135, Dec 17 at 2235, good signal with `ME` music, no announcements. Only QRM a bit o` bonker on the lo side which was evitable by tuning to the hi side. Only when it cut off abruptly at 2244* did it occur to me that it`s probably CyBC, scheduled 2215-2245 on Fri/Sat/Sun, but I didn`t realize 6135 is their B-11 channel on 49m. It was 6180 last B-season and 5925 in A-11. 6135 is 250 kW, 314 degrees to W Europe and hence USward too from the BaBcoCk Zyyi site, same as // 7220 and 9760. HFCC doesn`t distinguish between this and BBC relays except for listing language as Greek (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 6090, Dec 17 at 2225, since ANGUILLA [q.v.] is missing, what else can we hear? Sounds like a TAL [tonal African language], such as Hausa as scheduled from FRCN Kaduna; also rumble QRM from something else and lite het; bits of singing mixed in, off at 2300* apparently uncovering BRAZIL, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 6055, VG signal Dec 17 at 2356, REE is concluding French hour with music, sign-off giving 6055 and 5970 (the latter Sat/Sun only) interrupted by IADs; 2358 IS, 0000 Dec 18 sign-on by Justin Coe in English but then right into ``no sólo hablamos español`` promo, and then music without IADs. At least they are modulating this time instead of almost two hours of dead air as previously logged (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, sufficient, Dec 17 at 2316 I tune to VOT as it`s an on-week for the fortnightly `DX Corner`, but Sheref Isler is reading a script about Mevlana, who apparently died on this date, mentioning whirling dervishes. It seems there is a W.D. festival each year at this time. I subsequently learned much more about that by Googling, topped by this from a commercial tour promotion site

http://www.istanbullife.org/whirling-dervish-sufi-ceremonies-in-silivrikapi.html

``Known to the west as Whirling Dervishes, the Mevlevi Order was founded by Mevlana Rumi in the 13th century. The Order wrote of tolerance, forgiveness, and enlightenment. They survive today as a cultural brotherhood. They are not theatrical spectacles but sacred rituals. The ritual of the Mevlevi sect, known as the sema, is a serious religious ritual performed by Muslim priests in a prayer trance to Allah. Mevlevi believed that during the sema the soul was released from earthly ties, and able to freely and jubilantly commune with the divine. Dervish literally means "doorway" and is thought to be an entrance from this material world to the spiritual, heavenly world. The Whirling Dervishes played an important part in the evolution of Ottoman high culture.

From the fourteenth to the twentieth century, their impact on classical poetry, calligraphy and visual arts was profound. Rumi and his followers integrated music into their rituals as an article of faith. Rumi emphasized that music uplifts our spirit to realms above, and we hear the tunes of the Gates of Paradise.``

This lasted until 2322:30, then the familiar `DX Corner` theme and YL (mumbles name, Gemma?) says this will be a ``short program due to time limitations``, presumably the preceding special, but it turned out to 15+ minutes. For those of us who keep up with radio-related press, it`s mostly familiar stuff: EDXC Conference with DSWCI AGM to be in Germany; world`s first reception report, an Adrian Peterson item lifted from Wavescan; 2330 NASA internet radio station; Steve Wozniak, WA6BND, interviewed 14 Dec on BBCR4 Today program, and on demand; new Philippine radio station on 864 kHz; ham balloon, K6RPT-11 on 144.390 MHz crossing the Atlantic from California; Bhutan back on 6035 after 2+ years; Radio Seagull, 1395, heard in Canada by Allan Willie; DXpedition from Jan 29 on a beach in El Salvador listing a bunch of German ham calls, to activate a rare prefix, see http://www.hu2dx.de/

Some of the items were credited to Southgate and you`ll find them via http://www.southgatearc.org/ Some of those surely came from Media Network, also quoted by Southgate, such as the Philippines item,

which was credited only to MN`s source, the Philippine Information Agency. Wrapped up and into music fill at 2338 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ANGUILLA. 6090, Dec 18 at 0603, shux, PMS is back on after several nights missing while 11775 remained on at day. AFAIK, no one reported Uruguay or Chile in the meantime, if they were ever even on the air, let alone Liberia listed as inactive in last year`s WRTH. At least we heard Ethiopia, Nigeria and Brasil (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6150, Dec 18 at 6150, RHC is still on with heavy CCCCI instead of closing at 1300. I wondered if it was delaying moving to 9540 where on Sundays only, WHRI blox it until 1400; could not hear any RHC underneath WHRI, but 6150 did not stay on the full hour. Also looked for 13690 which appeared a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning before 1400, since they could hardly use 13750, occupied by jamming and VOA, but no 13690 this week. 13750 was on after 1400 instead of 9850, as well as on 13670 and 13780, including `En Contacto` at 1435. There would be no need for such complexity and uncertainty if Arnie chose frequencies which are clear 7 days a week, but that would require coördination in HFCC or at least astute monitoring (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 15460, Dec 18 at 1340, the RRI German hour is still marred by strange ringing artifacts on the sidebands of each, but inescapable by center-tuning either, as earlier noted on Dec 15, and some weeks before that. Something wrong with their program feed in this service, presumably also affecting English at 12-13 on same, which the Tiganeshti transmitters are not filtering out (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA. 6074, Dec 18 after R. Rossii closed with late timesignal at 1300*, kept tuned with BFO and could barely hear the start of a CQ at 1301, from 2MTL or 8GAL, no doubt (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BHUTAN. 6035, looking for BBS after its re-appearance last week, Dec 20 at 1301, can only detect a VP signal with splash from China radio war on 6030; more likely Yunnan PBS. BBS also appeared on 5030 which others have heard, but not even a carrier there. Of course, that one has ACI from Cuba too. If we do hear anything on 5030, it won`t be Sarawak. Both frequencies have been sporadic so far, going off at unexpected times (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH. 6100, Dec 20 at 1304, extremely emotional OM in Korean; wonder what he`s pretending to be so upset about? Also // 6400 at 1307 but an echo apart. Aoki lists these as different services: 6100 KCBS Pyongyang, 250 kW ND, and 6400 Pyongyang BS, 50 kW ND, but both from Kanggye site.

** RUSSIA. 6074, Dec 20 at 1300, V/CQ marker on CW from 2MTL, presumed Russian army tactical somewhere in the Far East, is audible right after R. Rossii, Pet/Kam signs off 6075 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825, Dec 21 at 1423, WWCR remembered to change to this frequency today, VG signal, and nothing on 7465 where it was on all morning yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BHUTAN [and non]. 6035, Dec 22 at 1312, with BFO I can tell there are two very weak carriers on slightly different frequencies, so must be BBS and Yunnan PBS; others are reporting Bhutan is 40-50 Hz on the high side. If I were to keep monitoring this carefully for the next two hours, I might detect when one of them goes off, and by matching that to reports from those who can really hear Bhutan, clinch a catch without hearing any modulation.

Nothing at all detectable on 5030, which is still testing sporadically. Ron Howard in California was hearing it during this period. Alokesh Gupta, Cumbre DX, hears from BBS that when the 5030 transmitter is ready for regular service in January with a second program, they may put it on a good clean frequency --- but this one seems good enough to me (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BULGARIA. 15600, Dec 22 at 1335, strong open carrier, R. Bulgaria kilowasting kilowatts, long before its 1400 Bulgarian broadcast; with a ringing sound, perhaps beating against the WEWN 15610 spur on 15601 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 6160, Dec 22 at 1408, CKZU Vancouver with CBC news about  sexual harassment against a woman firefighter in Richmond BC, new poet laureate from Nelson BC; 1410 into `Early Edition`, more local news, weather and 12>6 timecheck. Fair signal attaining R5 tnx to lack of QRM even from CKZN at this hour. I expect it`s pure luck, as major broadcasters don`t pay any attention to this unregistered 500-watt pipsqueak, even RCI, listed in HFCC via Korea during this hour, but unheard, and unlisted in Aoki, EiBi and RCI`s own website schedule. HFCC shows nothing else but Murmansk (a.k.a. Arkhangelsk, a.k.a. Monchegorsk) on 6160 between 0945 and 1800, and the Brazilians can be ignored in the daytime. Anomalies about the 6160 Canadians: Aoki claims CKZU is off the air on Sundays, surely not true. EiBi claims both CKZU and CKZN are off the air overnight, but surely they are both still 24 hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 5965, Dec 22 at 1355, Korean talk and then usual end-of-hour CRI music fill, 1400 reopening another hour of Korean after Chinese ID. Het from perpetually off-frequency Malaysia was JBA, weaker than usual. HFCC shows CRI Korean runs 11-15, 500 kW, 73 degrees from Xi`an. VOR Vladivostok also registered 10-14 westward on 5965, no sign of it, presumably yet another wooden one, lest there be a big collision in the area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6050, Dec 22 at 0659, Spanish music here from RHC not // English closing on 6010 and 6060, then to open carrier on 6050 at 0700. Quickly checked the fourth ``English`` frequency, 6125, and it was still playing the same music in Spanish until it cut off at 0703* by when 6050 was also off the air. Apparently, RHC had just cut half of its English frequencies to Spanish feed just before closing down, typical slipshod operation (= slopperation).

13730-13770, Dec 22 at 1339, DentroCuban Jamming Command centered on 13750 against our Voice of America in Spanish, not even a Cuban service, but Cuba doesn`t want anyone in Latin America to hear it, is bleeding out this far (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN. 6055, Dec 22 at 1349, R. Nikkei in American English lesson alternating with Japanese translations, about supersonic jets, light years, bank X and its non-performing assets, company A moving operations overseas. Probably regular on Thursdays, for those who would like to report them in English (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825, Dec 22 at 1337, for the second day in a row, WWCR-1 is managing to broadcast on the correct frequency, 48 hours after staying on 7465 all morning, and perhaps all day (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BHUTAN [and non]. 6035, Dec 23 at 1423, once again with BFO I can detect double-carriers on slightly different frequencies, presumably Yunnan and BBS; and nothing audible on 5030 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 6135, Dec 23 at 1356, Shiokaze via JSR JAPAN is still here but in Japanese ID instead of usual English on Fridays: must be thrown off by holidays. Furthermore at 1425 wrapping up in Korean and piano music until 1430*, also with a very weak het of less than 1 kHz, maybe Madagascar or Yemen long-path? No NK jamming audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 15380, Dec 23 at 0643, Qur`an on poor signal but SSOB, more than weaker Nigeria on 15120. It`s BSKSA, 06-09, 500 kW, 310 degrees from Riyadh for Turkey but also USward, same as another broadcast at 12-14 when it collides with Habana (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U A E. 6175, on the shortest day of the year, Dec 22 at the early hour of 2042 UT I am checking whether anything is propagating on 49m besides CFRX. Yes, some weak German talk and music here, which turns out to be: Voice of Vietnam via UAE, 2030-2130, 250 kW, 315 degrees toward W Europe and thus also USward (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 6135, Dec 24 around 1400, Shiokaze audible tho poorly, via JSR Yamata, JAPAN. S. Hasegawa explains in the DXLD yg why we were not hearing English the day before on Friday:

``Special emergency Service of Shiokaze is a plan on Dec. 23 to Dec. 25 and Dec. 30 to Jan. 1 (Fri-Sun) at 1330-1430 on 6135 and 2000-2100 on 5910 kHz. Broadcasted in Japanese at 1330-1400, Korean at 1400-1430 on 6135 kHz on Dec. 23``. Apparently the `emergency` is that KJI died a week ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [non]. 5990, Dec 24 at 2337, CRI via CUBA is playing ``Silent Night`` in Chinese by women`s choir with organ and chime accompaniment, very nice rendition, so I hasten to the much better-modulated relay via CANADA on 6040. Announceress then explains that Xmas is observed more and more in China than it was two decades ago, but Chinese people are able to ``discard all the religious connotations and go right to the fun part``. Well put! Considering it the western equivalent of the Chinese new year/spring festival celebrations. Next is ``Carol of the Bells`` except she calls it ``Xmas Bells``, originally Ukrainian.

A 2010 survey found that there are 23 megaChristians in China, and 5.7 megaCatholix (not stated whether counted separately or as part of the Christian total). Next: ``Sleigh Ride``, allegedly the No. 1 Xmas tune around the world. Can we trust these stats coming from the ChiCom? 2347 ``Jingle Bells`` except the chorus sings the English (?) words ``Ding-Ding-Dong`` instead. Says it was originally composed for Thanksgiving, not Xmas. Finally, the ``Hosanna in the Highest`` carol, did not catch what she called it. Program outro as `China Horizons` featuring a Chinese women`s singing group, whose name I did not catch either, but they were excellent, and retrieving this program would be worthwhile if they ever include it at

http://english.cri.cn/08webcast/horizons.htm

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 24 at 2325, VOT English to NAm is playing ``Here Comes Santa Claus`` by Gene Autry (an Oklahoman), 2326 YL not missing this chance to remind us that Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) originally hailed from what is now Turkey. BTW, in public I only wear a green stocking cap (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VATICAN [non]. 15470, Dec 24 at 2113, VG S9+25 signal with Xmas mass, 2116 Italian announcement mentions Vatican, more mass. This is a new frequency, or rather special one where nothing is normally heard or scheduled. 2215 recheck, still going in Spanish, hymn about Noel. I Never hear a specific Vatican Radio ID, but sure sounds like them, with Xmas eve special broadcast, and has to be a relay with reception like this, since from Europe on 19m, Spain manages only a weak 15110 signal, which had been VG in the autumn. Likely Sackville or Bonaire, VR relay sites used later in the evening.

At 2220 compared to Poland via Sackville on 15260, not quite as strong as 15470, with its own non-// usual Saturday night mass in Polish. Now the SSOB is 15440 WYFR, with 15470 the second SSOB. 15470 sounds like PBXVI speaking and trying to sing, but with YL commentary in Spanish. WEWN Spanish service relays Vatican around 2200, so I check 13830 // 12050 --- those are running 13 seconds ahead of 15470, so apparently live Xmas Eve service which somehow gets into and out of Birmingham/Vandiver first.

At 2307 the mass is over, and English programming is in progress, interviewing someone from Friends of the Holy Land, about helping out the few Christians left in Bethlehem. 2312 introduces `our final program today`, Xmas play ``No Cribs for a Bed``.

** MEXICO. 6010, Dec 25 before and after 1400 UT, I am having a hard time hearing any sign of XEOI, Radio Mil, altho it`s fortunately between the Korean jammers on 6003 and 6015. Nor at various other chex lately. I wonder if it`s off the air, or at reduced power? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, Dec 25 at 1343, piano jazz which must be VOA Korean service, via TINIAN, yes // 9555 Tinang, PHILIPPINES; not // the simultaneous Sunday 13-14 `Jazz America` on VOA English 7575 et al. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15385.4, Dec 25 at 1935 check, KJES is on with VG signal, and still hasn`t done anything to get back on frequency despite the FCC NOV (which concerned 11715 only; will they have to be cited separately for each of the three frequencies?). Nor has the latter been corrected, 11714.8 still Dec 26 at 1624 check during choir (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
